According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating Maxwell is working on the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, declared in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to contact and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her former location.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as the President's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the chief executive to deny the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether he had discussed a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange her with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, family or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court declined to hear an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
