Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.
